In cooperation with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem's Faculty of Agriculture – MASHAV's only academic professional affiliate – and the Weitz Center for Development Studies – CERUR, we are pleased to announce the opening of a training and capacity building course entitled:
Models of Sustainable Development:
Initiatives for Rural Communities in Desert Areas
The course will be held in Israel at the Faculty of Agriculture from March 21 – April 14, 2011. The aim of this course is to present examples and strategies to help rural communities cope in this setting. Models and presentations will include information on how to improve agricultural potential by raising crops with limited water, how to develop non-agricultural activities, how to organize a support system of economic and social services, and how to develop inclusive projects that integrate women in the economic development. This MASHAV program will be designed for people who work in and with the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Environment, UN organizations, international, local, and regional initiatives, private sector, NGOs, and community development projects. Policy makers, planners, and directors will be provided with techniques and models that can be adapted to their homeland.
The deadline is February 15, 2010. See this link for more information.
