Gaza: iYouth Encourage Local Organizations to be Green
In response to World Environment Day, which was on the 5th of June, iYouth members planned to implement a local action to distribute saplings to institutions and organizations in the community. Beforehand, the youth were given an awareness session about how they can work to better the environment and how they can protect it, develop it, and make it green. They were also trained on how to distribute and maintain the saplings.
On June 28th, 2011, the members went to various institutions and organizations in Gaza City, carrying the saplings with them. Each sapling held a small card with a sentence designed to encourage people to take good care of the environment. The organizations welcomed the members and received their gifts with pleasure, promising that they would follow the given advice on how to protect the environment. Overall, 20 iYouth females were engaged in the action, and 30 organizations were reached.
