Iraq: Sulaimaniya - Mentor Training Program

After three years of building youth leadership capacity and implementing many projects and activities, Global Citizen Corps has thought about giving more roles to the current leaders to sustain the program objectives. 15 Sulaimanyah GCC leaders, 5 females and 10 males,  were given chances to participate in the mentor training after reviewing their application by a panel.

During 5 days of training, the participants received a lot of topics that enrich participants motoring skills such as GCC approaches to training, the 5 steps of designing trainings, GCC action steps, goals features and the 5 types of speech. There were also a lot of workshop activities, brainstorming; team works that altogether granted participants new skills and experiences. It is best to mention the useful part of the training which was something practical to the youth participants, it is an outgoing activities that the participants formed teams and each of the team members interview people on the street about their basic need. Then the youth talked about the challenges they faced and skills they got. It is worth mentioning that the training also was fun and included various energizers that attracted the participants. Iraq GCC staff also participated in the training so that few of the staff will deliver the training in their local work area to create their own mentors in Kalar, Khanaqi, Kut and Al-Hay city. Participants are certified after their completion of the training.
